Aimed at 18-24 year old jobseekers who have been claiming jobseekers allowance for 26 weeks plus


Up to 50,000 jobs will be offered through the scheme from commencement of the pilot to March 2011

A recruitment subsidy of £1,000 is available for employers taking on
      a 18-24 year old jobseeker through the Care First Careers scheme with
      free pre-employment training for jobseekers who need this
      To qualify the jobseeker’s role has to be for an average of 16 hours
      per week over a 6 month minimum period
      4 pilots have been running since October 2009 in;
            North East – South Tyne and Wear Valley
            North West – Cheshire, Halton and Warrington
            West Midlands – Coventry and Warwickshire
            South West Wales
      National launch is for roll out from late January 2010 in England,
      Scotland and Wales
      Care First Careers is one of the Routes into Work within the Young
      Persons Guarantee. There are 4 other Routes into Work;
            Retail
            Hospitality/Leisure/Travel and Tourism
            Security
            Facilities management
