This cannot go on….
On Friday, I was talking to one of our members who works with Domestic Abuse victims… it has been a series of discussions I’ve been having with her over the past while regarding the amount of funding they have had cut from their vital services.
Whilst I am aware of the amount of funding cuts there have been across the board, Domestic Abuse services really seem to be struggling and no-one seems to be taking up the issue or providing a response.
Domestic Abuse organisations are close to my heart – not that I am or have ever been a victim, but seeing first-hand how they save lives it’s clear that this work needs to continue and should be supported.
Women’s Aid, the national charity that supports Domestic Abuse organisations, will be handing in a petition to Number 10 Downing Street on 20th November, a day after FaithAction’s national conference. If you feel the same, or you want to find out more, please cick here.
They are also encouraging vigils to be held locally – faith centres have a fantastic resource for this work (space!!) so if you know of a domestic abuse organisation in your locality and you want to help them, then please do make the connection and help them get something started.
