“Faith is a Bridge to Social Capital”

A Whistlestop Tour to #FaithinPartnership Week …

On the evening of Monday 9th September we introduced Faith for a Safe Start, a toolkit which will help faith organisations to work together with the NHS to improve the outcomes for maternal health for ethnic minority communities. The event was hosted at the House of Lords by Rt Rev Dame Sarah Mullally, the Bishop of London, and featured speakers from NHS England, Alive Church Lincoln, the British Islamic Medical Association, The Royal College of Midwives, among others.

The toolkit will be available in the new year. You can pre-register your interest in the toolkit HERE.

Tuesday 10th September: Faith Covenant Forum

On Tuesday morning, we held an online Faith Covenant Forum. We presented the findings of our “What Matters To Us” survey, and after that, with 2024 marking 10 years since the signing of the first Faith Covenant by Birmingham City Council,  we discussed what the future holds for communities who have implemented the Faith Covenant.

You can download our survey results HERE, and find out more about the Faith Covenant HERE.

Wednesday 11th September: Faith for the Future

On Wednesday morning, we hosted a breakfast meeting in Westminster called Faith for the Future, which was addressed by the new Faith Minister, Lord Khan. The Minister spoke about the future of the new government’s approach to working with faith organisations. When he took questions from the floor, he emphasised that decisions that were made by past governments are being reviewed, and that there will continue to be a clear way forward for faith organisations to engage with local and national governments.

"I am determined to maintain an open door policy and listen, I want to engage with as many Faith leaders as possible - faith based organisations play a vital role in communities, providing support to people of all faiths and none."

"Faith is a bridge to social capital. Bridges are built through relationships."
