2025: A year of change for the NHS, and your voice matters!
We currently have the biggest opportunity for a decade to influence the direction of the NHS in England.
In November we posted a blog highlighting the open consultation for the NHS 10 Year plan which allowed individuals, organisations and charities to give suggestions about how the NHS could be made better. Perhaps you contributed to this yourself.
At FaithAction we remain committed to influencing the development of this plan, and ensuring faith communities, faith-based charities and the voices of ordinary people – like you – are considered by NHS leaders.
Why? Because, when it comes to healthcare in this country, faith matters.
It matters for patients, since studies show that people benefit when their faith is considered as part of their care.
It matters for faith-based organisations, because joining up their bread-and-butter work with the health system can expand their impact, unlock new funding opportunities and grow their capacity and expertise. (There were some great examples of this during the COVID-19 pandemic.)
And it matters for a health service which is stretched almost to breaking, since the wholistic support offered by faith communities all year round has the potential to significantly relieve pressure on services and help deliver the kind of personalised offer for which it strives.
Last month, when I asked a national Clinical Director at NHS England about the importance of faith in maternity care his answer was simple:
“…faith is incredibly important for people and therefore it has to be incredibly important for us.”
We want to ensure faith remains on the radar of leaders as they consider the future of the NHS.
That is why on 4th February @ 10am we will be hosting a collaborative workshop where you’ll be able to tell us your experiences, and help shape a collective voice to input into this plan.
