NHS 70th birthday – update on celebrations
FaithAction’s Faith & Health Award is our way of marking the 70th birthday of the NHS. Entries are currently being judged – watch this space! Meanwhile the NHS has plenty of celebrations planned – here are some examples.
NHS Big 7Tea launched
There are more than 250 NHS charities in the UK providing support to patients, relatives and staff. They fund a wide range of work, including new equipment and medical research.
As part of plans to celebrate the 70th birthday, more than 60 NHS charities have come together to host the NHS Big 7Tea. Staff, patients and local people are being asked to host tea parties to mark the big day and to raise awareness and funds for NHS charities.
The NHS Big 7Tea will formally launch at the end of April, but you can find out more and register for a pack at www.NHSbig7Tea.co.uk.

Linking the NHS and schools
The NHS has launched a range of resources to help schools to engage children and young people with the work of the NHS including how to use services wisely.
Working with the charity Speakers for Schools, 70 TV doctors and senior NHS leaders are heading back to school to inspire young people to work in the NHS.
In addition, working in partnership with Inspiring the Future, the NHS is making it easier for children and schools to connect with NHS staff to hear about their careers and why they should considering joining the NHS.
