CQC Annual Report – Monitoring the Mental Health Act
The Care Quality Commission have published their annual report monitoring the Mental Health Act.
This report sets out the CQC’s activity and findings from their engagement with people subject to the Mental Health Act (MHA) and their review of services registered to access, treat and care for people detained using the MHA. They use information gathered from across their activities to report on the quality of care people are receiving while detained.
It features discussions on disproportionate numbers of BAME people detained under the MHA, high numbers of people with learning disabilities in hospital due to a lack of appropriate community care, and outlines personal experiences of those detained under the MHA.
