NHS Highlight Importance of Dignity and Compassion

NHS England have issued a letter highlighting the importance of dignity and compassion when caring for patients in the light of Covid-19. The letter particularly references ‘do not attempt cardiopulmonary resuscitation’ (DNACPR) orders, which it says should only ever be made on an individual basis, and not according to ‘blanket policies’.

The letter comes in the light of increasing demand on NHS services due to Covid-19, and particularly intensive care capacities.
