iPads to Boost Care for People in Care Homes

NHSX is providing iPads to care homes and helping them to improve their internet access, to ensure that everyone living in a care home in England can access video consultations and remote care when this is helpful.

During COVID-19,care providers have been utilising digital technology to protect the health and wellbeing of vulnerable residents. The tablets will also allow staff to access NHSmail, other tools or systems needed to support care as well as to connect care home residents with loved ones and access.

To further support the technology, NHSX and NHS Digital have negotiated and published on the NHSX website a range of internet connection offers with telecom companies. This is complemented by two new pieces of guidance; choosing an internet connection for your care home and how to use digital services in your care home.
