New resources on communities and health
The King’s Fund has launched a ‘explainer’ webpage, Communities and Health, with a guide for people who are interested in the role that communities play in health, but can be confused by different terminology, understandings and approaches. It contains sections on how communities improve health, health policy, and examples of practice. It also contains a link to a short further reading list, and to a conference the King’s Fund is planning for the Autumn.
Public Health England (PHE) has also launched a new online resource in its Health Matters series, Community-centred approaches for health and wellbeing, which includes how to create the conditions for community assets to thrive.
The webpage is full of useful information and infographics about the importance of community. While it doesn’t mention faith communities specifically, we know that faith groups are an important part of these approaches. We have recently submitted some case studies from our members to PHE, to contribute to its ongoing work in this area.
