23 projects to share £4.5m social prescribing fund
The Government has announced an investment of nearly £4.5m to 23 local community and voluntary programmes involved in social prescribing – such as street games, Citizens Advice, and walking clubs – which aims to improve a person’s health and wellbeing by influencing social, economic and environmental factors. Evidence shows that the majority of people that take part in social prescribing schemes reduce their use of public health services. In particular, these 23 programmes will target socially-isolated people, people affected by health inequalities, and people with complex needs.
