Health Inequalities in Older and Rural Populations
Public Health England has published a review of Health Inequalities in Older Populations in Rural and Coastal Areas, together with a blog article supporting the launch.
The research provides evidence on the nature of health inequalities experienced by older populations in coastal and rural areas, together with a summary of considerations in taking an asset-based approach to reducing inequalities and promoting healthy ageing in these areas.
It was carried out by Northumbria University and comprises a literature review together with a number of case studies of local practice, bringing together a range of information in one place with links to published research. It is intended to help local commissioning and strategic leads by informing service design, planning and delivery as well as the development of local infrastructure.
