New report on tackling loneliness from the Loneliness Action Group

Today the Loneliness Action Group have released a shadow report calling on government to reaffirm its commitment to tackling loneliness. A connected society? Assessing progress in tackling loneliness can be accessed here: https://www.redcross.org.uk/shadowreport

Much has happened in this first year since the publication of the strategy and this report shines light on positive steps forward. Yet, it also highlights areas where there is still much to be done, including need for greater measurement of impact, ensuring social prescribing delivers for loneliness as it is rolled out and scaling up of piloted interventions. It is key that momentum is not lost and loneliness remains a firm priority of government moving forward.

The Loneliness Strategy recognises the vital role to be played by faith groups in tackling loneliness, and FaithAction have highlighted some of the great work that goes on in our report, Right Up Your Street: how faith-based organisations are tackling loneliness. We are keen that this activity is recognised by other agencies and services, and are investigating the extent to which faith-based organisations are on the radar of social prescribing initiatives up and down the country. We will release a follow-up to our own report, including further recommendations both to government and faith groups, later this year.
