Faith in Older People: What role do faith-based organisations have to play in supporting people with their mental health?
Our Policy and Programmes Officer Jeremy Simmons recently wrote a blog for Faith in Older People, on the role of faith-based organisations in supporting people with their mental health.
The blog discusses the stigma that still exists around discussing mental health, and the positive role that faith can play in addressing it, including the power of well-placed and timely words from a trusted faith leader, and the positive physical and mental health impacts of being a part of community.
It also includes information on our Friendly Places campaign. By signing the Friendly Places pledge, a faith group makes a commitment to be a place which welcomes or supports those struggling with their mental health, whether they are experienced at this or just beginning on their journey.
You can read the blog in Faith in Older People’s September newsletter, which can be downloaded here.
