British Red Cross publishes new report about A&E attendance

The British Red Cross, in partnership with Dorset ICS, has released ‘Seen and heard: Understanding frequent attendance at A&E’. The report reveals that a small amount of A&E users in Dorset account for more attendances than others, with links to deprivation, mental ill health, and long-term conditions.

Key recommendations from the report include expanding High Intensity User (HIU) services, improving mental health and primary care support, and addressing non-clinical factors through community initiatives. The British Red Cross is working nationally and locally to implement these changes and tackle health inequalities.
